The PLA began to introduce a new type of armoured command and control vehicle in its ground forces. Compared to previous Type 63/85 C2V, this new vehicle provide much larger space and verily likely better equipment too.

    1、YW-701A（63式）装甲C2V

    2、YW-703（85式）装甲C2V

    这一种车辆是安装在YW531H（85式）装甲人员输送车（APC）。它主要地是用于外销用途和没有进入PLA服役。车辆配备有：

    2套VHF/FM无线电（包括一套后备）
    1套HF 单频无线电（包括一套后备）
    1套短-波接收机
    1套703型内部电话

    二套VHF和一套HF无线电能同时地工作，能够从1,000米之远遥控操作。在外部车辆装有可缩回10米天线杆改良通信性能。车辆能使用它的1 kW发电机、四组12 V电池及[或]外部动力源用于车载设备供电。车辆为自防卫配备有一挺12.7毫米防空机枪和四具烟榴弹发射器。

    3、94式（?）装甲C2V

    基于被部署的YW534（89式）装甲人员输送车（APC）的新装甲C2V已经被看到在PLA装甲部队服役中。车辆特点有六对道路轮（与在89式装甲人员输送车五对相比较）和与早先C2V相比较一个被增高的人员舱去为它的乘客提供一个更大的空间。没有关于车载设备的详细资料，但是一般相信车辆配备有最新的数字通信系统和无线计算机网路。

ARMOURED COMMAND & CONTROL VEHICLE

The armoured command & control vehicle (C2V) is designed to provide an automated tactical command post for armoured operations. Mounted on the tracked or wheeled armoured personnel carrier (APC), the C2V can provide division, brigade, and regiment commanders and their staffs with the same degree of speed and mobility as that of the main battle tanks and armoured combat vehicles. The vehicle is equipped with a range of communication systems to support the command and control of the troops in the battlefield.

PROGRAMME

The C2V will normally follow the combat units to control their fires and manoeuvres. The vehicle is identical to normal armoured combat vehicles in appearance, and follows standard procedures and standards for maintenance and repair. The staff housed within will be able to perform their duties while the vehicle is in short stationary during highly mobile combat operations. To reduce the noise level in the staff compartment, it is separated from the driver and engine compartment at front by a bulkhead.

he PLA has produced a number of armoured C2V models:

YW-701A (Type 63) Armoured C2V

This is based on the YW531C (Type 63) APC. The staff compartment is heightened by 300mm to the front hull to allow more space for the passengers. The vehicle is fitted with:

3 VHF/FM radio (including one backup)
2 HF single-side band radio (including one backup)
1 short-wave receiver
1 Type 701 internal telephone
Two VHF and one HF radio can work simultaneously, and can be remotely operated from 1,000m away. The vehicle has retractable 10m mast fitted externally to improve the communication performance. The vehicle can use its 2kW generator, four 12V batteries, and/or external power source to supply electricity for the onboard equipment. A 12.7mm anti-aircraft machinegun is fitted on the roof of the compartment for self-defence.

YW-703 (Type 85) Armoured C2V

This vehicle is mounted on the YW531H (Type 85) APC. It is mainly for export purpose and did not enter service with the PLA. The vehicle is fitted with:

2 VHF/FM radio (including one backup)
1 HF single-side band radio (including one backup)
1 short-wave receiver
1 Type 703 internal telephone
Two VHF and one HF radio can work simultaneously, and can be remotely operated from 1,000m away. The vehicle has retractable 10m mast fitted externally to improve the communication performance. The vehicle can use its 1kW generator, four 12V batteries, and/or external power source to supply electricity for the onboard equipment. The vehicle is fitted with a 12.7mm anti-aircraft machinegun and four smoke grenade launchers for self-defence.

Type 94(?) Armoured C2V

A new armoured C2V based on a stretched YW534 (Type 89) APC has been spotted in service with the PLA armoured forces. The vehicle features six pairs of road wheels (compared to five on the Type 89 APC) and a heightened staff compartment to provide a much larger space for its passengers compared to previous C2Vs. The detailed information on the equipment onboard the vehicle is not available, but it is believed that the vehicle is fitted with latest digital communication systems and wireless computer networks.
