在中国有人操纵宇宙飞行计划的第三阶段中，即是921-III计划，中国2020年之前将要建立宇航员能居住达到长周期（数个月）之久的长期空间站和实效各种不同的科学实验活动。依照中国“神舟”（ShenZhou）太空船总工程师所称，空间站将会是20吨级，被现处发展阶段的中国下一代长征（ChangZheng）-5（CZ-5）运载火箭发射。空间站的建造将会以将要在中国有人操纵空间计划的第二阶段内被测试的空间对接和其他技术为基础。

PROJECT 921-III (SPACE STATION)

In the third stage of the Chinese manned spaceflight programme, which is known as Project 921-III, China is going to build a permanent space station where astronauts can live for a long period (few months) and conduct various scientific experiment activities by 2020. According to the China’s chief engineer for ShenZhou spaceship, the space station will be 20-tonne class, launched by China’s next generation ChangZheng-5 (CZ-5) launch vehicle which is currently in development stage. The building of the space station will be based on the space docking and other technology which are going to be tested in the second phase of the Chinese manned space programme.
